in this thread i mentioned having a long chat with an elder last summer.
i didn't realize i had never posted the story, so here it is.. last summer (when i went to buy my new camera lens) i ran into one of my favorite jws at the photography shop.
he was buying a camera bag for his new dslr, and i saw him, went up and greeted him, hugged him.

Why I like it is because I can really imagine being in your shoes, I was there with you in the conversation.
My father sounds extremely similar to the elder you met, intelligent, quick witted and easily loved. However, despite being df'd nearly 6 years ago, I have never had the courage to have a 'conversation' with my dad about how I actually feel now about the religion.Both my parents have deluded themselves that everything that comes out of Brooklyn is correct, even when it gets changed every few years.

we found this quiz after reading the book parenting beyond belief and sweetpea and i decided to take the challenge - afterall how difficult can 50 bible questions be for us born and brought up as jw's?.

first a bit of background (in case you are not familiar with my family history)... my mom is 68, my dad is 63. they run their own small business which involves my dad travelling all over the country and my mom running the office.
my dad is an insulin dependant diabetic and my mom suffers from chronic high blood pressure.
my only sibling is a sister who is 27 and lives in bethal.she is a housekeeper and her husband repairs the shoes there.. today i call my mom to say hi... the conversation goes something like this..... me: so when are you going back to work mom?.

I've got two parents who are totally brainwashed by the WTBS - I would never challenge them on their beliefs because I don't want them to see how anti Jw's I've become and also they are very clever with words and would try and tie me up in knots.
Anyway I haven't spoken to them for over 5 years since I was df'd.

bubble and i are off to choose a new car for her tomorrow.. we won't get it tomorrow as she wants the new '08 plate but we have to decide soon.. the choice is either a vw golf 1.6tsi match or a fiat grande punto 1.4dynamic sport - which shall we go for?.
the glof we would probably have to buy on personal contract hire but the punto we buy outright.
she has a punto now.. i know the golf has a good reputation for reliability but it's a bit dull!
Just look at the alternatives - do you want German solidity or Italian flair?
She has nearly made her mind up - we may have a Carribean Orange Punto on our drive next to my red Alfa in March!
She will be making her mind up by wednesday when we have to sign on the dotted line.......

Blow up 'airbed' for when kids etc stay round and we haven't got enough room.
Bubble has just bought next years Christmas cards!
Also she comes in with carrier bags in each hand every time she comes home so I'll have to check out and see what else 'we' have bought!

Yeah we have the Nissan over here - nice but again the engine is a bit agricultural though I would never say no to owning one. A real drivers car I hear.
I suppose the cars we are choosing between aren't exactly glamourous but that's all we can afford. What would $30,000 get us in the States?

'Vettes - powerful V8 powered American muscle cars, lot's of brawn but not much finesse. Vette shows American way of doing things were a Porsche 911 4s show how the Europeans do it.
I know which I prefer but horses for courses I presume.
Anyway, the choice is between a Fiat and a VW, not a Vette and a Porsche!!!!

'' faders'' are a thorn on the sides of the wts.
they miss meetings,don't contribute any money,don't go out in service,and can contribute towards the ''spiritual sickness'' of the local congregations.. will there come a point where they will ask each and every ''fader'' if they wish to remain in or out of the congregation?
can they come up with scriptures to warn the congregation that you are a ''fader'' and are be marked?
Why were you at the UK Bethel llbh?
I agree with most posters on this thead - there are too many faders for the powers that be to really do anything about.
